About Dr. Robert Chu
Dr. Robert Chu is a Paediatrician and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians with more than 25 years of consultant experience caring for children from premature newborns through to adolescents. He is a dual trained specialist in General Paediatrics and Paediatric Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Chu graduated from the University of Sydney in 1990 before completing his internship and residency training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He subsequently undertook specialist paediatric training at The Children’s Hospital at Camperdown, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, and across the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network. In 2002, Dr. Chu served as the Paediatric Emergency Fellow at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, published 3 research papers and completed further advanced training in paediatric sedation and anaesthesia, as well as adult emergency medicine across several tertiary metropolitan hospitals
From 2003, Dr Chu was a Paediatric Emergency Staff Specialist at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead for more than a decade contributing to junior medical staff teaching, clinical research, and participating in senior hospital committees. Throughout his career, Dr. Chu also served as a Visiting Medical Officer across public hospitals in Sydney’s Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore, in addition to several leading private Sydney hospitals.
Dr Chu has mentored and taught undergraduate medical students from the University of Sydney, the University of New South Wales, and the Australian National University. He is an Honorary Associate Consultant at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
Dr Chu remains passionate about quality improvement initiatives that strengthen paediatric healthcare services and improve patient experiences for families.
Dr. Chu currently consults at Norwest Private Hospital and Chatswood Specialist Centre, seeing both public and private patients.
